Professor Dr. Hashim Hashim MBBS, MRCS (Engl), MD, FEBU, FRCS (Urol) is a world-renowned Functional Urological Surgeon and Honorary Professor of Urology. Prof. Hashim is the director of the UK’s most active urodynamics unit with an international reputation. Prof. Hashim has trained a number of surgeons; from the UK and around the world, on urological and urodynamic surgical techniques, has over 190 publications, and has lectured around the world.

Professor Paul Abrams MD, FRCS is a Professor of Urology at the University of Bristol and Consultant Urological Surgeon at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. Prof. Abrams’ special fields of interest include incontinence, urodynamics, and voiding dysfunction. Prof. Abrams served as a General Secretary of the International Continence Society (ICS) from 1985 to 2003. During that time, Prof. Abrams made the society a true multidisciplinary international forum for research and education in incontinence. Prof. Abrams was instrumental in creating several ICS standardization reports.

Engineer Andrew Gammie is the Clinical Engineer at the Bristol Urological Institute, UK. Mr. Gammie is active in publications and research in urodynamics for drug trials, data mining, and device assessment, and development. Mr. Gammie participates in numerous training courses promoting quality in urodynamic measurements and has chaired the International Continence Society Urodynamic Equipment Working Group. Mr. Gammie is also a consultant for UNICEF, WHO, and other agencies working with medical equipment in low and middle-income countries.

About the Course
This Certificate in Urodynamics Course meets the requirements to complete the urodynamic training program recognized and approved by the International Continence Society (ICS). This virtual live streaming event has been created specifically for specialists in North and South America.

This two-day course, offered in both English and Spanish, will provide a combination of lectures, interactive discussions, and practical demonstrations. The course will be interactive, including questions and answers directed to and from participants. Basic principles of urodynamics, setting up equipment, urodynamic techniques, interpretation of results, and writing reports will also be discussed.

  • Knowledge of the basic physical principles behind the measurement of flow and pressure
  • Knowledge of the role of the urodynamic studies in the investigation of children, women, men, and neurological patients. The parameters, formulas, values of uroflowmetry, cystometry, pressure flow, and urethra profilometry will be presented
  • Ability to recognize artifacts seen during urodynamic studies and the knowledge of how to correct them
  • Ability to interpret urodynamic traces
  • Knowledge of basic and specialized urodynamic techniques, including urethral function and video urodynamics

Intended Audience
Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, and Clinical Scientists who have at least 6 months of basic knowledge and experience in areas related to urodynamics are encouraged to participate.

Course Credit
At the close of the course, there will be a comprehensive multiple-choice test. Those who achieve satisfactory marks, (80% or greater) are awarded a Certificate in Urodynamics by the Bristol Urological Institute. A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to those who do not reach the required standard, or who choose not to participate in the test.
